    About Ian Justl Ellis, MD

Ian Justl Ellis, MD teaches GLP-1 and metabolic peptide dosing at Peptide University, including the microdosing strategies practitioners ask about most. His teaching on precision GLP-1 dosing covers titration, side-effect management, muscle preservation, and how GLP-1 protocols are combined with other peptides inside a full metabolic plan. Clinicians learn with him through Peptide University's live clinical classes, Inner Circle membership, and the Clinical Peptide Therapy Certification.

Dr. Ellis earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine at the Anschutz Medical Campus in 2013, then completed his emergency medicine residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York and a fellowship in Medical Education at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. He has been board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine since 2018.

He came to this work from a decade of full-time emergency medicine, where he saw first-hand how much of the medical system is built to manage chronic disease and how little of it is built to get people healthy again. He knew the gap personally: a certified personal trainer and former competitive bodybuilder, he had fought what he calls the appetite problem his entire life and still finished residency sixty pounds overweight.

Then he discovered GLP-1 medications, not as a prescriber but as a patient. For the first time in his life the appetite problem was gone, but the standard dosing schedule pushed him past appetite control into near-complete food aversion: of the 25 pounds he lost in three and a half months, 16 were muscle. It was an experience mirrored by many of the patients he was treating in the emergency department. He came away convinced that, dosed properly and combined with the right nutrition and training, these medications could be a real answer to the chronic disease crisis in the West, and that the answer was being squandered by dosing protocols with no mechanism for matching the medication to the individual patient.

So he refocused his career on a single question: how to get the full benefit of these medications with the fewest possible side effects. A year of trial, error, experimentation, and study produced his method: dosing to each patient's medication level rather than to a fixed escalation schedule. Helping people rebuild their health the same way, without the trial and error, is what drives his work today.

In 2023, Dr. Ellis founded Voafit, a Dallas-based, physician-led concierge practice delivering precision GLP-1 therapy, hormone optimization, and peptide protocols alongside real-world fitness and nutrition strategy. He then partnered with Recess Fitness Club to launch Recess Rx, a membership-based telehealth practice that pairs GLP-1 medication management with fitness and nutrition coaching. This work has been featured in D Magazine, the Dallas Observer, Athletech News, and Club Solutions Magazine.

The method became MyLevel, his patent-pending precision dosing engine, which calculates how much medication is active in a patient's body over time to find the minimum effective dose for each individual. Both practices run on it. Among the first 112 patients treated under the framework at Voafit, weight loss met or exceeded the rates predicted by the major Phase III trials on roughly half the usual medication exposure, and not one patient stopped treatment because of side effects. The results are detailed in the MyLevel whitepaper. Dozens of practitioners and clinics around the world have since trained in the method and are adapting it for their own patients.

What began in a single concierge practice is now headed for national scale. PWR Clinics, a network of medically supervised longevity clinics launched by UFC GYM and NexGen MD Scientific, will bring his dosing method, along with his nutrition and exercise philosophy, to hundreds of thousands of patients across the United States. Dr. Ellis serves as its Medical Director.

He is also Chief Wellness Officer of NexGen MD Scientific and sits on the advisory board of Arora Health and Aesthetics. Across all of this work his focus has expanded beyond GLP-1s: rebuilding the industry's systems and processes so that precision dosing of wellness, optimization, and longevity therapies can be delivered at scale, and making individualized, pharmacokinetically aware dosing the standard of care.

Dr. Ellis speaks regularly about GLP-1 dosing and metabolic health as a podcast guest, including appearances on On The Pen, Compound Wisdom, AI for Founders, and GLP-1 Hub.
